Question :

What type of Depilatory Wax should I use for eyebrows, lip contour and face?

Answer:

Basically a Hard stripless wax is advised because it applies at a lower temperature and does not stick on skin, but you can use as well a gentle liquid strip wax such as an Azulen or Titanium Dioxide liquid wax.  Most importantly, prepping skin before and after wax application is as important as the correct wax application technique and the kind of wax you would use. Make sure to cleanse and aseptize skin, then dry it and sprinkle lightly a corn-starch based powder to eliminate moisture. Holding skin tightly, apply wax at the correct temperature, in parallel to skin and following hair growth. When removing your Hard Wax and/or Liquid Wax, pull always in parallel to skin and against hair growth. Immediately after, place the palm of your hand on the freshly waxed area to alleviate any pain and provide comfort. As a final touch, apply a soothing post-waxing lotion and voila!

Question :

Should I exfoliate skin prior and after wax application?

Answer:

Skin exfoliation helps eliminate in-grown hair and prolongs the effects of waxing. In order to avoid irritation, advise your clients to exfoliate the day before their scheduled waxing appointment. Skin exfoliation in between waxing improves greatly in-grown hair as it prevents excessive dead cells built-up that trap hair under the skin. Do not exfoliate skin immediately after waxing: wait 2 to 3 days after a waxing session to resume a skin exfoliation routine.

Question :

Can I recycle and re-use a stripless Hard Wax?

Answer:

For safety and hygienic purposes, it is forbidden for safety to filter and re-use a stripless

hard wax. Although this practice was acceptable in Europe some twenty years ago, it is not recommended anymore! The claim that germs are killed during the re-heating process is false. A fresh batch of hard wax must be used for each wax application.

Question :

I work in a walk-in salon and have to keep my wax warm at all times. What should I do

to always have a warm ready-to-use wax?

Answer:

Investing in a good reliable professional wax warmer with thermostat pays in a very short time. Upon your arrival to the salon, heat your wax at the recommended temperature, then lower and adjust the wax melter thermostat in order to keep your wax perfectly warm and ready for any waxing service. It is recommended to shut the wax warmer at the end of the day. Cleaning your wax warmer daily with an all-purpose wax cleaner and using disposable collar wax warmers to prevent wax spills will keep your wax warmer like new for years to come and your waxing area spotless.
